About Us

Jim graduated from University in 1993 with an Honours degree in Estate Management having conlcuded a five year, one day a week part time course interwoven with an ongoing professional career working with a sole proprietary Chartered Surveying practice. During this time Jim cemented the academic and practical sides of learning together to create solid skill sets in a wide range of property matters that still underpin his current day activities. Moving to Phoenix Beard in 1994, Jim took his skills to a higher level and gained his MRICS status. Jim joined Bache Treharne LLP in 2003 where he provided a tailored service to the Insolvency markets, including valuation, asset strategy and disposals; “Red Book” valuations to Banks and other lenders; and general asset management advice to the Corporate world. After an 18 month spell as Director of Valuation at Savills’ Birmigham offfice, Jim set up MGR Appraisals with two former Bache Treharne colleagues, but in February 2013, whilst on holiday in Western Cape, South Africa, he decided to branch out on his own and chose the name of a local South African town – Paarl – to become the identity of his new company.  

Married to Dawn Roberts who is Paarl’s company secretary, Jim enjoys travel, the ever changing challenges of family life, many sports including motor sport, cricket and rugby.

In October 2021,  Lesley Bunting joined Paarl.  Lesley has an extremely wide and varied range of experiences in the Midlands property markets. Lesley was the Head of Estates at Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries for many years before setting up her own practice which she retains to undertake Local Government work.  Lesley brings a wide range of expertise to Paarl with her extensive knowledge of the Midlands property markets and undertakes agency, landlord and tenant work and assists with our workload of Bank Valuations and Insolvency cases. Lesley is also an RICS Registered Valuer.

Paarl Property Consultants commenced trade with effect from 1st June 2013 and has enjoyed very buoyant trade since this date, underlining the relationships that Jim has forged over his years of practicing in the industry.

Paarl is fully insured to £2m on an each and every claim basis through an RICS approved broker and underwriter. Paarl is registered with HMRC, for money laundering purposes, and ICO for data retention to allow it to trade as an Estate Agency to handle disposals that might arise from its business activities.
